Shan Tao Band was suggested to formed under the suggestion of the Y.B. Yong Teck Lee on 14 February 1987. Initially, the members that required in was about 70 students with fees RM5 in a month for each members. Madam Ng Mei Lan was the one who in charge the brass band. Only 27 students that has been registered into the band until the month of September. All the members were from remove class, form 1 and from 2. The attendence of the members were not very satisfied because still lack of members. Therefore, the brass band have to be stop temporaly. Finally, the band was successed to formed when year 1988. Mr. Anthony Thin Kek Siong was our first coach who setup our band, and Ms. Yong Chew Yun was our first advisor teacher.
The number of members has been expanding throughout its establishment. The band was start from military style with only using trumpet, side drum and bass drum. Our 4th coach, Mr. Wee, who had coached our band, and lead us to became a strong marching brass band. Madam Chow Yang Ching became the successor as coach. The band went through some major changes but improved somewhat under the new coach's strict coaching. Shan Tao Marching Band was then became a modern marching band since year 2002, which has achieved national level standard.
Shan Tao Band members regularly attend weekly laborious training at school, whereby members practice their musical pieces, drilling, and field formations. Members will definitely get more hectic by the time a performance date is around the corner because of tight practice schedules. Eventually though, young band members will learn to cope and try to excel in both academics and co-curriculum through this kind of hardship.Hence, The band was improved a lot under the initiative of band members.
This website was firstly created in year 2006. The purpose of this website is to keep every band member can always connecting together, share the joyness and sadness together, and also together march on to victory. Grip goal for glory, march on to victory!
